Training, practice, games – with all the hours we dedicate to sports there is an inherent risk of injury. For an athlete at any level, getting hurt can be devastating, leading to time out of the game and, in some case, hours of rehabilitation and even surgery. CORA’s Injury Prevention Screenings were designed to keep you in the game.
Everything we do at CORA is leading edge. To help us understand how you move, what functional limitations may be present, and your potential risk of injury, clinicians at many of our locations use Functional Movement Screens (FMS) and Selective Movement Functional Assessments (SFMA).
Specifically, the FMS looks at your mobility and stability. It aims to identify which movement patterns are working well for you, and which ones are faulty and can use improvement. The next step is we develop a program personalized just for you to adjust these patterns and reduce your risk of injury.
SFMA, on the other hand, is a clinical assessment tool that helps us locate the cause and source of your pain. It can identify poor movement patterns that can result in pain and helps us create a program to change those patterns.
Who Can Benefit?
Injury Prevention Screenings can be used for:
- Individual athletes of all ages and skill
- Sports teams, especially in the off- and pre-seasons
- Dancers and dance teams
- Cheerleading teams
- Anyone initiating a training program such as marathon training
- And more
The Game Plan
After your injury prevention screening, your therapist will work with you to develop a customized program that can be done in the clinic or even at home. It will not only reduce your risk of injury and your pain but can improve your performance. Talk about a win-win-win.
