Physical Therapy
Stories
Jordan & Ben Cuenin
Couples of CORAJordan and I met in PT school at UCF in Orlando, FL. She was in the graduating class ahead of me and we first met at the welcome picnic that UCF does for every incoming class. From that moment on Jordan couldn't resist me... the rest is history.
We survived a year of long-distance relationship while I did travel physical therapy and she first worked for CORA in Orlando. After a year she joined me and we did travel therapy for about 3 more years together. It was a wonderful experience traveling together. After 7 years of dating I finally proposed in Austin, Tx. We settled near the Greenville area where we both manage clinics for CORA and are raising our two wonderful kids (Caleb and Carter). Jordan manages the CORA Easley location while Ben manages the CORA Powdersville clinic. Sometimes we are lucky enough to be in the clinic together, which is always a fun day.
Dating, marrying, and living with another PT has been an excellent decision for us both. It is much more enjoyable doing CEU courses together, practicing skills at home and asking for each other for input on complex patient cases. It is also great living with someone who fully understands the day-to-day challenges we each experience so we can help one another whenever needed. It is also great getting PT treatment at home from your doctor spouse!
CORA has been terrific at supporting us as a couple and even more so as a family. There is a tremendous amount of teamwork and comradery in the upstate which helps us manage the challenges of childcare. Often, unexpected changes or illness arise but CORA and team have done a great job at helping to support us during the journey of parenthood. Also, we take family vacations together and CORA has always helped us make that a possibility. Lastly, when our kids were younger, we even brought them to work some days and they would sit in a pack n play while mommy and daddy worked on patients.
I used to think I could never work and live with my spouse, but after working with Jordan quite often I have grown to love it. However, BALANCE is very important. It can be difficult to avoid "bringing work home" or talking about it a lot and making sure you have time away from work is healthy. Also, doing CEUs together out of town can be a nice little "vacation" weekend getaway with one another.
Cuenin Fun Fact
Ben beat Jordan in a 5k COLOR RUN up in Spartanburg a few years ago during a CORA marketing event. He has yet to relinquish this household title. They bet and compete often whether it is darts, corn hole, or fun runs. Their typical bet is winner gets a massage on an agreed upon amount of time from the loser. Jordan and Ben frequently "compete" with each other regarding how well their perspective clinics are doing which allows for some fun banter at home.
